Cong govt. never crossed FRBM limit and cleared pending bills: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has said that people were giving their verdict once in six months against the BRS leaders for the blunders committed by them during their 10-year rule. In the general elections and in the Parliamentary elections held six months later, people did not even let the BRS candidates get their deposits, he recalled, stating that the BRS leaders have a feudal mindset and on what grounds would they privilege move against him, Bhatti questioned. When he was addressing a media conference in Khammam and said that the Congress government had waived Rs.21,000 crore for farmers, a journalist asked what about relief to landless labour. In that context, “I said we will give them Rs.12,000 per year”. Is it wrong to extend help to the poor? Are BRS leaders not wanting assistance to be given to the poor?” he countered. Bhatti said that the BRS leaders formulated rule books to suit their purpose. They insisted that placards should not be brought into the House and slogans should not be raised. Now they are violating the rules set by themselves, he pointed out. When Pocharam Srinivas Reddy was the Speaker during the BRS rule, they would say that the issues wanted to be raised by the Opposition and the issues decided by the ruling party should be submitted to the Speaker and he would take a decision. Now the Congress government too wanted that system. Gaddam Prasad Kumar is the Speaker now and in the BAC meeting convened by him, the BRS leaders were not interested in following the system and throwing the papers in the meeting and leaving. What is this tradition, he questioned the opposition members. Refuting the opposition propaganda, Bhatti said that there was no truth in claims of opposition that the Congress government after coming to power borrowed Rs.1lakh crore. “We borrowed only Rs.52,000 crore and repaid Rs.66,000 crore along with interest in 11 months”, he said. While BRS leaders kept Rs.40,000 crore bills pending, the Congress government cleared Rs.14,000 crore so far. The BRS leaders kept Rs.18,000 crore bills pending in the Civil Supplies department and they did not even take bank guarantee from millers. After Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy took charge of the department, he was striving hard to collect dues, Bhatti said. “We are making payments to farmers within three days after purchasing paddy from farmers. Did you ever do that in your life”? We are giving Rs.500 bonus per quintal of fine rice and a farmer Chittibabu from our village sent an SMS that he got additional Rs.15,000 per acre thanks to the bonus given,” Bhatti shared. Bhatti said free power was Congress Party’s patent. It was started by the Congress government in 2004 and it would release bills promptly to the discoms. But BRS leaders left Rs.18,000 crore dues to discoms. The Congress government released Rs.11,000 crore till now to discoms. Even in the Industries department, the previous BRS government left dues of Rs.3,000 crore. The BRS rulers were paying bills to contractors every year as per upwardly revised prices but did not increase even a single rupee towards mess charges for the poor students studying in welfare hostels. Thus contractors supplying food failed to provide quality food at increased prices and compromised on quality. As a result it took a toll on the health of students now, Bhatti said. The Congress government which realised the sad situation, increased mess charges by 40 per cent and cosmetic charges by over 200 per cent for better hygiene. Taking a dig at BRS MLA T Harish Rao, Bhatti alleged that Harish Rao has no habit of speaking the truth and he would only politicise the issues. “We never borrowed beyond FRBM limits. In fact our efforts are to reduce borrowings. The destruction of 10 years cannot be set right in one year. So we have to take loans to some extent,” he said. The BRS leaders even leased the Outer Ring Road (ORR) built by the Congress government for the next 30 years. “If like BRS leaders we too collect commercial tax and other taxes for the next 30 years from Adani and Ambani, how will the future governments survive,” Bhatti asked the Opposition members.

Cong govt. never crossed FRBM limit and cleared pending bills: Bhatti
