January 31: Last day for voters to register for North Andhra teacher MLC polls

Visakhapatnam: Polling for the Member of Legislative Council (MLC), representing teachers from the north Andhra districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anakapalle, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Parvathipuram Manyam districts, is scheduled on February 27. Making the announcement at a press conference on Thursday, Visakhapatnam district collector and returning officer M.N. Harendhira Prasad said the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into force from Wednesday and will continue till the polling day. The notification regarding the Teacher MLC elections will be issued on February 3. Nominations will be accepted at the collector's offices from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on all regular government working days. The nomination process will conclude at 3:00 p.m. on February 10. Scrutiny of nomination will be on February 11. The last day for withdrawal of nomination is February 13. Polling will be conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 27. Harendhira Prasad said as per the final voter list of the Teacher MLC constituency released on December 30, 2024, there are 21,555 registered voters in the six districts, comprising 12,948 male voters and 8,607 female voters. He clarified that eligible individuals may apply for voter registration until 10 days before the conclusion of the nomination process, specifically 3:00 p.m. on January 31. All voters can cast their votes at the 123 polling stations in the north Andhra region on February 27. Until then, the MCC will remain in force within the region.
