AP to observe third Saturday as Swachh Andhra – Swachh Diwas

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced the launch of the “Swachh Andhra – Swachh Diwas” programme to make Andhra Pradesh the cleanest state in the country. This initiative, set to take place every third Saturday, will begin on January 18 at Maidukuru in Kadapa district. Chief secretary K. Vijayanand, during a video conference with district collectors, outlined the programme’s guidelines and urged officials at all levels to ensure its success. The initiative will feature monthly themes such as “Avoid Single Use Plastics” in March, “Beat the Heat” in June, and “Green AP” in September, aimed at addressing various environmental issues. Vijayanand stressed the pivotal roles of the Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Urban Development Departments in executing the programme. Minister for municipal administration P. Narayana emphasised public participation and proposed large-scale campaigns, including human chains, in every constituency to raise awareness. This programme aims to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility across Andhra Pradesh.
