CM Revanth Seeks Centre's Support for Telangana Projects in Delhi

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy held a series of meetings with Union ministers in New Delhi on Thursday, seeking support for critical state projects and environmental clearances. He met minister for forests and environment Bhupender Yadav with a request to expedite pending environmental clearances for 161 projects, including 38 under the Wildlife Protection Act. Highlighting that several of these projects were located in remote and left wing extremism-affected areas, he pointed out at the delays in infrastructure development such as roads, national highway towers and PM-Gram Sadak Yojana works. Special attention was drawn to the pending permissions for the Gouravelli project. Responding positively, Yadav assured Reddy of expediting clearances. In a separate meeting, the Chief Minister urged minister for heavy industries H.D. Kumaraswamy to support Hyderabad's transition to a 100 per cent electric bus fleet. Reddy explained that the state government had submitted proposals under the PM E-Drive scheme and sought allocation of 2,800 retro-fitted electric buses under the GCC (Gross Cost Contract) model. He highlighted the potential to convert existing diesel buses through retro-fitment technology, which involves installing electric kits. The Union minister assured support for the proposal. The Chief Minister concluded his visit with a courtesy call on Union minister of state for heavy industries and steel Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma. They discussed several state-related issues.
