Yunus Khan Talks About Loveyapa Role, Aamir Khan’s Influence

Actor Yunus Khan, who plays Jaggi in Loveyapa, has opened up about the challenges of his role and the dream-like experience of meeting Aamir Khan at the film’s trailer launch.

Speaking about his character, Yunus revealed, “Jaggi, also known as the Jaguar, wasn’t fully fleshed out on paper, so I had to build him from scratch. I wanted to make him more than just a comic-relief friend—I aimed to add charm and individuality to his persona. Observing my co-actors and feeding off their energy on set really helped shape him.”

One of the film’s standout moments features a prank played on Jaggi by his friends, Gucci and the gang. Pretending to be a mystery woman online, they lure him shirtless onto a terrace, only for him to realize he’s been tricked. “That moment was more than just a comedy scene—it triggered a key memory for Gucci, pushing the story toward its climax. Initially, I wasn’t sure how to play it, but with the team’s support, it came together naturally. Watching audiences laugh at it has been truly rewarding,” Yunus shared.

However, his biggest highlight from Loveyapa was meeting Aamir Khan, a moment he describes as surreal. “Since childhood, people have joked that I resemble a young Aamir Khan, so meeting him in person was unreal. His films—Rang De Basanti, 3 Idiots, PK, Fanaa, Dil Chahta Hai—shaped my love for storytelling. Rang De Basanti especially changed how I saw cinema; it made me dream of being a part of this world. Standing on the same stage as him wasn’t just a moment—it was a feeling I’ll carry forever.”

The experience became even more special when Aamir Khan invited the Loveyapa team to his home, both after the trailer launch and post-release. “It wasn’t just about celebrating the film but also the journey we all took together. That moment of sitting with him, reflecting on our work, felt like a quiet reassurance that we were on the right path,” Yunus said.

He concluded by expressing gratitude to director Advait Chandan for believing in every actor and giving each character a moment to shine.
