(Image Source: Twitter)Visakhapatnam: YSRC MLC and party women’s wing president Varudu Kalyani has strongly condemned two recent sexual assaults on minors in the Bheemili constituency and demanded strict punishment for the perpetrators. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, she criticised the coalition government’s failure to ensure women’s safety. She attributed the rise in violence against women to rampant alcohol and drug abuse, highlighting that the state now hosts over 50,000 illegal liquor outlets. “Alcohol fuels 80 per cent of crimes against women, yet the government’s inaction emboldens offenders,” she remarked. The MLC also pointed to the diminishing impact of the Disha initiative for women’s safety under the current administration. “Cocaine cases are emerging even from the Chief Minister’s home district, while ganja trafficking thrives in the Home Minister’s constituency,” she noted. Calling for immediate government action, Kalyani urged the introduction of strong policies and the delivery of swift justice to victims. “Women across the state deserve to live without constant fear,” she asserted.
