Two Arrested for Raping Minors in Vizag City; Min. Assurers Strict Action
Visakhapatnam: Two separate cases of sexual assault on minors were reported in the Visakhapatnam district. The incidents occurred under Bheemli and Rushikonda police station limits. In Bheemli incident, a 12-year-old girl suffering from cerebral palsy was raped by a 50-year-old neighbour, identified as Borra Yallareddy. The incident happened when the victim was alone at her home after her parents had gone out for work and her grandmother stepped out of the house to feed animals. The accused has been arrested and the victim is undergoing medical treatment at a hospital, said ACP (north) S Appala Raju, while having a conversation with Deccan Chronicle. In Rushikonda incident, a 30-year-old cloth store owner from Madhurwada allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl on Monday. According to the ACP North, the accused has been identified as Sai Teja and is known to the victim as she frequented his shop and was acquainted with his wife. The suspect allegedly lured the victim on the pretext of a birthday celebration. After sending the victim’s brother to fetch food, the accused allegedly forced the minor to consume alcohol before raping her. Police have arrested the suspect. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha assured the government’s support for the victim’s family and swift legal action against the perpetrator. Visakhapatnam city police commissioner said that POCSO cases have been registered and investigations are underway.
