Tirupati: A scrap metal trader was abducted and murdered by a group of unidentified men near Mikkilimpeta village in Kodavalur mandal, Nellore district, on Wednesday. According to reports, the victim, Devarla Ramesh (50) from Chellayapalem, Buchireddypalem mandal, was transporting iron materials in his auto-rickshaw as part of his regular work. Around ten men arrived in a car, intercepted his auto, and forcibly took him away. Ramesh's companion was left behind unharmed. Police suspect the act was premeditated and have registered a case. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities examining leads to identify the assailants and uncover the motive behind the attack. Issuing a stern warning, SP Satish Kumar stressed that any police officers or staff found engaging in unauthorised financial transactions or acting as intermediaries in such dealings would also face strict disciplinary measures.
