Roof Collapse at Rajahmundry Airport Construction Site Injures Two Labourers
Vijayawada: A portion of the roof of the new terminal which is under construction, collapsed causing minor injuries to two labourers at the Rajahmundry airport at Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari at about 11.30 am on Friday. As a part of development of airports in the state, Rajahmundry airport is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 347 crore by developing a new terminal, three aero bridges and other buildings and the works are scheduled to be completed by August. However, when the steel structure roof was getting erected as part of construction of the new terminal, a part of it caved in and no causally was reported except for minor injuries to the two labourers who were discharged from the hospital after getting treatment. Rajahmundry airport director Gnaneswara Rao said, “When the erection of a roof on the steel structure was going on at the upcoming new terminal, a part of it collapsed. We are monitoring the situation.”
