Janpahad LIS capacity to be increased: Uttam

Suryapet: Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced on Friday that the capacity of the Janpahad Lift Irrigation Scheme would be increased to irrigate additional areas in Palakeedu mandal. Speaking to the media at Janpahad, he said that the scheme, initially designed to provide irrigation to 5,650 acres, will be expanded to cover 10,000 acres. He also noted that ₹33 crore was sanctioned for the Bette Thanda Lift Irrigation Scheme and ₹7.5 crore allocated for constructing a check dam at Bette Thanda. Highlighting infrastructure developments in the Huzurnagar assembly constituency, Uttam Kumar Reddy said ₹1 crore has been sanctioned to lay a metal road from Janpahad to the lift irrigation scheme. Reddy criticised Opposition parties, accusing them of spreading false propaganda about the distribution of new ration cards. He alleged that the BRS party failed to issue new white ration cards during its decade-long rule and is now resorting to cheap politics. He reiterated the Congress government’s commitment to ensuring every eligible individual receives a ration card and dismissed opposition claims as baseless. Earlier, Uttam Kumar Reddy participated in a puja at the Janpahad dargah.
