Haveri: Three youths die in road mishap as their bike hits bullock cart
Thousands of devotees from various villages of Haveri district are traveling to these fairs in their private vehicles and bullock carts and a large number of devotees travel during the night
Haveri: Three youths lost their lives in a road accident when the motorcycle in which they were travelling collided with a bullock cart in the early hours of February 11 near Gudagoor Cross, about 30 km from the district headquarters, on the Ranebennur-Guttal road.
According to the police the deceased have been identified as Shashikumar (25) from Kanavalli, Akash Malakappa Biradar (20) from Godihal in Chadachan taluk, and Darshan (21) Aurad taluk.
They were on their way to Mylara Lingeshwara Jatre when the incident occured.
A case has been registered against the deceased rider Shashikumar under BNS Sections 281 (Rash driving), 106(1) (causing death by negligence), and relevant sections of Motor Vehicles Act.
Sri Mylara Lingeshwara Jatre in Mailar village and the Sri Basaveshwara Jatre in Kuruvatti village of Vijayanagar district are being celebrated with great grandeur. These villages are located near the border of Haveri district. Thousands of devotees from various villages of Haveri district are traveling to these fairs in their private vehicles and bullock carts and a large number of devotees travel during the night.
In light of the accident, authorities have urged all vehicles and bullock carts traveling to the fair to install reflective markings.
The Chief Executive Officer of Haveri Zilla Panchayat and the Regional Transport Officers have been requested to take necessary measures. Meanwhile, the police officials have been instructed to increase road safety awareness among the public and strictly enforce traffic regulations.
