Assam: Elderly shopkeeper stabbed, robbed in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, Dec 27: An elderly shopkeeper is fighting for her life at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) after masked assailants stabbed her while she was returning home.

The incident occurred at around 11.30 PM on Thursday night at Lahowal area in Dibrugarh.

The victim has been identified as Keshlata Hazarika.

According to reports, the elderly woman, after shutting down her shop, was returning home when she was attacked by masked assailants with a knife. The assailants fled the scene with her money bag.

The woman is admitted at AMCH and undergoing treatment.

“The elderly woman was returning back to her home when the incident occurred yesterday night. We have launched an investigation and very soon the masked assistants will be under police custody,” said a police official.
