Shillong, Jan 15: A tragic road accident occurred near the Rattachera Police Check Post on NH6 on Wednesday, when a Tata Sumo traveling from Guwahati to Silchar skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge.
The vehicle was carrying four people, including the driver.
The driver and a female passenger were killed on the spot, while two other female passengers sustained critical injuries.
The troops from the 172 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya, were the first responders at the scene.
The injured passengers were initially provided medical care at a nearby Primary Health Centre before being transferred to Silchar Civil Hospital for advanced treatment.
