Guwahati, Dec 26: In a heartwarming start to the New Year, three tiger cubs were spotted frolicking with their mother in Kaziranga National Park, offering a rare and stunning spectacle for wildlife enthusiasts.
The magical moment was captured on camera by tourist guides Talkib Ali and Bitopan Gogoi, who were leading a group of tourists from Maharashtra near Mihibeel and Kathpara Towers during a jeep safari. Among the cubs, one stood out with its unique golden hue, leaving visitors awestruck.
“It’s a rare privilege to witness a tiger with her cubs in Kaziranga,” remarked an elated tourist. The scene of the playful young ones alongside their majestic mother was a highlight of their adventure.
Environmentalists and locals celebrated the sighting as a symbol of hope for Assam’s wildlife. “This is great news for the people of Assam,” said environmentalist Devojit Moran. “We thank the tourist guides for their efforts in placing camera traps in the right areas.”
Kaziranga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a declared Tiger Reserve since 2006 is renowned as one of the few wild breeding areas for large cats outside Africa. It is also the only place in the world where a golden tiger has been sighted in the wild.
This rare sighting reinforces the park’s reputation as a haven for Bengal tigers, Indian leopards, and other wild cats, including jungle cats, fishing cats, and leopard cats. As Kaziranga continues to thrive as a sanctuary for these magnificent creatures, moments like these remind us of the need to preserve and celebrate our natural heritage.
