Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers have been pleading with general manager Rob Pelinka to make at least one big trade before the upcoming deadline, but their cries may be falling on deaf ears.
Insider Jovan Buha recently threw cold water on the hopes of fans who want to see another A-lister join the squad.
“The sense around the league, when talking to rival scouts and front-office personnel, is that standing pat or making a half-measure trade (likely one or two second-round picks) is more likely than the Lakers going all-in and trading both of their future first-round picks that can be moved. That’s dependent, of course, on the available players, asking prices and the team’s performance through the deadline,” Buha wrote, via NBACentral.
The Lakers are more likely to stand pat or make a “half-measure” trade rather than go all-in on a big move, per @jovanbuha

People who have been paying close attention to the Lakers aren’t surprised by this news because it has always been a strong possibility.
The front office has some big plans and wants to make changes, but they know they don’t have a ton of options.
They are viewing the current trade landscape and attempting to do what is smartest while also not giving up too many draft picks that might help them in the future.
At the same time, they want to see what this current team is capable of when it’s fully healthy.
For example, Jarred Vanderbilt should be back soon after not playing all season.
Could he give them enough of a boost to help secure a spot in the playoffs?
They are willing to part with some of their second-round draft picks, but that won’t lead to a new-look roster for the Lakers.
It sounds like it’ll be another season with just minor adjustments to the lineup, which has fans very worried.
Even with LeBron James and Anthony Davis healthy all season, the team is still experiencing too many disappointing losses.
The fans want a big shakeup, but that probably isn’t coming, so they need to prepare to ride it out with this team for the rest of the season.
