There is no doubt that Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves is one of the most exhilarating young stars in the NBA right now.
But that doesn’t mean his game is perfect.
In fact, Edwards is really lacking in one major way.
According to Michael C. Wright, per Legion Hoops, Edwards is now 0-12 on go-ahead or game-tying field goal attempts in the final five seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime.
Only LeBron James (0-for-19) has had more attempts without a make since Edwards was drafted.
Anthony Edwards is now 0-12 on go-ahead/game-tying FGAs in final 5 seconds of 4th or OT, per @mikecwright.

This is definitely not something fans want to see from their team’s biggest star.
This fact proves that when the team needs Edwards to step up and be a clutch star, he can’t do it.
That doesn’t mean the Timberwolves are doomed because other players can score go-ahead or game-tying points, but this is definitely something that Edwards should work on.
For the season, he is averaging 26.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game on 44.3 percent shooting from the field and 42.8 percent shooting from the 3-point line.
The Timberwolves are attempting to look like the team they were last season.
They pushed far into the postseason and it felt like they’d be one of the most dominant teams in the West this year.
Instead, they are ninth in the conference with a 22-21 record.
They want to be more than a play-in team and hope to improve before the postseason arrives.
Edwards is still a crucial part of the team and has had multiple great moments in the 2024-25 season, but his capabilities during clutch time need to be improved.
