Despite Paris Saint-Germain eliminating Liverpool from the UEFA Champions League, Arne Slot continues talking about the capital as he now focuses on his domestic duties, including the EFL Cup final against Newcastle United.
In the second leg, PSG took the lead in the 12th minute when Nuno Mendes passed to Ousmane Dembele in the center. Dembele quickly found Bradley Barcola on the right, and Barcola’s return pass deflected off Ibrahima Konate’s sliding tackle, setting Dembele up for an easy finish.
Neither team scored in extra time, sending the match to penalties. PSG converted all four of their shots against Alisson Becker, while Gianluigi Donnarumma made key saves for the visitors.
After allowing a penalty from Mohamed Salah, Donnarumma came up big with saves against Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones. The shootout ended when Desire Doue calmly converted the final penalty, securing PSG’s place in the next round.
Arne Slot makes a surprising PSG comparison

With their final on Sunday against the Magpies, Slot spoke to the media and shared an interesting comparison between Newcastle star Alexander Isak and PSG’s attack.
“Looking at Newcastle, we played them twice,” Slot told the club’s official website. “In the last game [Alexander] Isak wasn’t involved, in the first game he was involved.
“He is such an important player for them, he’s an unbelievable threat and has the speed that, for example, the attackers of Paris Saint-Germain had on Tuesday as well and they were more than I would have liked in front of Ali [Alisson Becker] during the two games we have played them.
“So, we need to do even better than we did [on Tuesday] if you look at the way we have to defend the counter-attacks. But for large parts of the [PSG] game, over 90 minutes I couldn’t have asked for more.”
