The Warriors’ pursuit stems from their desire to pair another elite talent alongside Stephen Curry, and with the Suns struggling at 25-24 and ninth in the Western Conference, teams are increasingly inquiring about Durant’s availability.
However, ESPN’s NBA Today brought clarity to the situation when Insider Shams Charania revealed Durant’s stance on a potential Warriors reunion.
“The Warriors have been seriously pursuing Kevin Durant over the last week, but sources tell me that Durant has no desire in a reunion with the Warriors. He does not want to go back to the Warriors,” Charania reported.

Despite Durant’s successful three-season stint with Golden State that resulted in back-to-back championships, he seems to have closed the doors on that route.
With Durant seemingly off the table and Jimmy Butler potentially unavailable, the Warriors might pivot back to their earlier target, Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic.
While trade discussions had cooled as Golden State pursued bigger names, the former All-Star could once again become a priority as the deadline approaches.
Any potential move would bank on Vucevic maintaining his strong performance in the Bay Area.
The stakes are particularly high as both the Suns and Warriors find themselves in similar positions, battling for play-in tournament spots with comparable records.
Neither team has met preseason expectations through their first 49 games, leading some fans to fantasize about Durant returning to Golden State.
However, the 15-time All-Star has made it clear he’s committed to helping the Suns compete this season rather than entertaining thoughts of a Warriors comeback.
