Colin Cowherd Reveals What He Heard About Luka Doncic Trade

The Dallas Mavericks had a top-five player and let him go.

Not many teams can brag about having a 25-year-old superstar, much less one who has already taken them to the NBA Finals in the stacked Western Conference.

That’s why everybody has tried to dig deeper and figure out what happened.

With that in mind, NBA analyst Colin Cowherd claimed that one of his sources told him that GM Nico Harrison likely wasn’t responsible for this deal.

Instead, upper management likely forced him to get a deal done, which is why he even settled for just one first-round pick.

That makes some sense, as the Mavs have some new owners, and Doncic was going to be eligible for a supermax contract extension.

Then again, even if that was the case, the Mavs could’ve found a better trade package in return.

Harrison reportedly talked to Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Pelinka for three weeks before finally completing this deal, so it’s not like he didn’t have more than enough time to test the field and gauge Doncic’s best value.

Maybe Harrison didn’t want to part ways with Doncic.

Maybe he was forced to do it.

Still, that doesn’t explain why he would not do an essential part of his job and try to maximize the value of his most valuable asset.
