Vizag Land Grab: Corporator Seeks Minister’s Intervention
Visakhapatnam: Jana Sena corporator P.L.N. Murthy Yadav wrote a petition to the revenue minister, Anagani Satya Prasad, and sought his intervention for the publication of two SIT reports related to land grabbing and forgery of documents in Visakhapatnam. The minister was in Visakhapatnam, had convened a review meeting, with the collectors of six districts of north Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. In the petition, he mentioned that since the bifurcation of the state, crores of rupees were lost due to land grabbing and irregularities committed on the basis of the forged documents in Visakhapatnam. The corporator stated that during the tenure of the TD government from 2014-2019, an SIT had been constituted to investigate these land scams and a comprehensive report exceeding 1,000 pages was submitted. But no action was taken on the basis of the probe report. He further said that Kona Shashidhar, the then vice chairman of VUDA, had also submitted a report regarding a land scam of Rs 540 crore. But the probe never saw the light of the day. Murthy Yadav stressed that before starting a probe into illegal land dealing, the findings of the two prior SITs should be taken into consideration. Besides, he also urged the minister to cancel the registration of all land dealings which had figured in the two SIT reports. The Jana Sena corporator also criticized the large-scale allocation of lands during the YSRC government and said that these illegal activities were driven by self-interest instead of doing any public good. Murthy Yadav also pointed out that the previous government had started land allocation process and it was intended for the marginalized community. “But these lands were reportedly grabbed by the real estate developers and officials connived in these manipulations,” he added.
