TG intensifies efforts to combat TB
Health minister C. Damodar Rajanarsimha said the state’s commitment to achieving a TB-free Telangana while recognising the role of pharmaceutical companies in supporting patients.


Hyderabad:The Telangana government is intensifying its fight against tuberculosis (TB) with a comprehensive strategy that includes continuous screening, awareness campaigns and free medical support for patients. Health minister C. Damodar Rajanarsimha said the state’s commitment to achieving a TB-free Telangana while recognising the role of pharmaceutical companies in supporting patients.
Under the initiative, eight pharmaceutical companies are providing free monthly nutrition kits to TB patients during their treatment period, funded through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions. The government is also offering free medicines and a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 to TB patients.
As part of the state’s TB eradication efforts, active case-finding camps and awareness programmes are being conducted at the village levels. The government has intensified the programme across nine districts, which includes Adilabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Suryapet, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Medak, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy. This will be a 100-day dedicated campaign.
At an event held at his residence, Damodar Rajanarsimha presented appreciation certificates to representatives of the eight pharmaceutical companies—Aurobindo Foundation, Optimus Drugs, Biological E, Gland Pharma, Metro Chem, Natco Pharma, Granules, and Sun Pharmaceutical. These companies have collectively contributed food baskets worth ₹2.8 crore for TB patients in the designated districts. The minister commended their support, acknowledging the critical role of proper nutrition in TB treatment.
