Warangal: For the past two years, rice millers in the erstwhile Warangal district have repeatedly failed to supply the government-mandated Custom Milled Rice (CMR), prompting a surprise inspection by additional collector G. Sandhyarani on Wednesday.
Inspecting mills including Maruti Rice Mill and Vijayalakshmi Binny Rice Mill, Sandhyarani ordered the immediate delivery of CMR to the Civil Supplies godowns at Enugallu village in Parvathagiri mandal.
Authorities report that approximately 15 rice mills owe over Rs 80 crore in CMR, with pending allocations for the 2023-24 Kharif and 2024 Rabi seasons potentially raising the total by another Rs 10 crore. Despite multiple extension deadlines, fines, and legal actions, millers have cited milling capacity constraints and technical issues for their non-compliance.
The state government had issued a stern warning, mandating that all pending CMR deliveries be completed by January 31.
