Staggering Rs 1,60,000 Energy Bill Leaves Tribal Woman Speechless
Lakshmi, who belongs to a tribal community, has joined hands with another Gadikondamma, who is also facing the similar situation — demanded immediate action from the authorities of the electricity.
Visakhapatnam: It came as a shocker for Dola Lakshmi, a resident of Dolavani Palem village under T. Ajjapuram panchayat of the Ravikamatham mandal in Anakapalle district. To her utter dismay, she received the electricity bill amounting to a staggering Rs 1,60,000 by the energy department.
Lakshmi, who belongs to a tribal community, has joined hands with another Gadikondamma, who is also facing the similar situation — demanded immediate action from the authorities of the electricity. Besides, rectifying the anomaly in the electricity bills, the duo also urged officials to ensure that such ‘mistakes’ do not occur in future.
Speaking about the ordeal, Lakshmi, said, “The electricity meter is registered in the name of my son Dola Sattibabu. It’s almost unbelievable to see the whopping energy charge, a sum of Rs 1,60,000. We are at a loss and for us it is like a nightmare. We only use one bulb and a television. During the daytime, we stay outside engaged in farming activities. We use electricity only at night.”
Similar was the situation with Gadikondamma, another resident. The electricity meter has been installed in her late husband's name, Gadikondamma Nagaraju, and she received an electricity bill amounting to Rs 29,913.
Now, these two tribal women are seeing a ray of hope. The villagers have come forward in support of the duo, seeking relief from the electricity department at the earliest.
