Sreenidhi, Islamia College Students Protest Over Fee Disputes

Hyderabad: Protests erupted at Sreenidhi College in Ghatkesar and Islamia Engineering College in Bandlaguda, with students and parents accusing the management of pressuring students to pay full fees due to delayed government reimbursements. At Sreenidhi College, students organised a demonstration in the campus at 10 am, demanding justice. They urged the administration to address their grievances. A notice circulated on social media the day before calling on students to gather in the campus quad on December 18 at 10 am to discuss the reimbursement issue with the concerned authorities. The message stated that there is a need for collective action. “No voice is too small when we stand together,” it read. Students also alleged that their hall tickets for upcoming exams were being withheld unless they cleared their dues. According to them, the college administration had listed the names and roll numbers of students with pending tuition fees. The message reportedly instructed students to pay at least one-third of the fees by the next day to avoid being barred from writing midterm exams. Protesters called the action unfair, and said that the financial burden should not fall on them due to delay in government reimbursements. They demanded immediate intervention of the concerned authorities to resolve the issue.
