Red Book governance deters investors: Roja
Tirupati: Former minister and YSRC spokesperson R.K. Roja alleged that the TD government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, hindered industrial growth in Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the media in Nagari on Friday, Roja criticised Naidu’s recent trip to Davos, claiming it yielded no investments and tarnished the state's industrial reputation. She attributed the failure to Lokesh’s 'Red Book Constitution,' which she claimed created a hostile environment for industrialists. Comparing Andhra Pradesh's performance with other states, she noted that Telangana secured investments worth ₹1.32 lakh crore, and Maharashtra attracted ₹15.75 lakh crore, while the AP delegation returned empty-handed. “Despite 14 years of administrative experience, Chandrababu’s leadership has failed to deliver results,” Roja said. The YSRC spokesperson alleged that ₹20 crore was spent on promoting Lokesh during the Davos visit. She also questioned why actor-politician Pawan Kalyan, a known supporter of Naidu, was excluded from the delegation, suggesting it was due to internal insecurities within the TD leadership. Highlighting the achievements of former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Roja pointed out that Andhra Pradesh attracted ₹1.26 lakh crore worth of MoUs during the Davos summit under his leadership. “The Vizag Global Summit saw investments totalling ₹13.5 lakh crore, with prominent industrialists like Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Sajjan Jindal participating,” she noted. Roja accused the TD government of fostering a negative industrial climate by engaging in political vendettas, misusing laws, and spreading misinformation about the state's economy. In contrast, she emphasised that Jagan’s administration has focused on infrastructure development, fostering peace, and creating a conducive environment for industries. He pointed out that privatising colleges under the PPP model would result in a loss of 2,250 medical seats, particularly affecting colleges in Pulivendula, Markapur, Adoni, and Madanapalle, slated to open this academic year.
Dr Raju also raised concerns about Aarogyasri being handed over to insurance companies, fearing it would prioritise profits over services. He warned that privatisation of key sectors, including medical colleges, ports, and irrigation projects, would face review if YSRC returns to power.
