Speaking at a protest in front of the collectorate, Tirupati criticised the previous BRS government for underfunding education, leading to a decline in quality from schools to universities
Karimnagar:Telangana Education Examination Committee state steering member N. Tirupati on Sunday demanded that the state government allocate at least 20 per cent of its Budget to education, citing years of neglect.
Speaking at a protest in front of the collectorate, Tirupati criticised the previous BRS government for underfunding education, leading to a decline in quality from schools to universities. Committee member M. Raghushankar Reddy highlighted that while other states allocate 14.7 per cent of their budgets to education, Telangana lags at 7.3 per cent, ranking 35th nationwide.
They blamed inadequate infrastructure, staff shortages, and rapid privatisation for worsening standards and called for immediate recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff. The committee urged the government to conduct annual transfers, promotions, and hiring during summer breaks to ensure stability.
The members demanded a 20 per cent budget allocation for education in 2025-26, with funds directed toward strengthening government institutions.
