Nagarjuna Gets Nostalgic, Hails ANR’s Vision
Seasoned star Nagarjuna fondly reminisced about his father, the legendary Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), whose visionary efforts played a pivotal role in making Hyderabad the heart of Tollywood. Before ANR’s initiative, the industry was primarily based in Chennai. His dream took shape on January 14, 1975, with the establishment of Annapurna Studios, which now proudly enters its 50th year. Marking the milestone, Nagarjuna shared a heartfelt video reflecting on the studio’s journey and posted on his X. He marveled at how ANR built the studio at a time when there were no proper roads leading to the area. Over the decades, Annapurna Studios has provided opportunities to countless technicians, directors, and artists. The video also includes nostalgic glimpses of its inception and launch, with heartfelt messages from the studio’s staff. “Annapurna Studios is now in its 50th year. My father always believed that behind every successful man, there is a woman. He credited my mother for his success, which is why he named the studio after her,” Nagarjuna shared. He expressed deep gratitude to the studio’s staff, referring to them as his ‘family’ and ‘warriors.’ He also reminisced about the tradition started by his parents, where every Sankranti, they would have breakfast with the studio staff—a tradition that continues to this day. “My father has always been my greatest inspiration—not just for me and my family but for many others. He was known for his positivity,” Nagarjuna reflected, as he extended heartfelt Sankranti wishes to all.
