Kurnool: Property dispute delays man’s funeral

Kurnool: A property dispute disrupted the funeral of an 85-year-old man, Thottempudi Venkaiah, in Kakuturivaripalem, Prakasam district, on Tuesday. While preparations were underway, Venkaiah’s son Venkateswarlu and daughter-in-law Vijayalakshmi obstructed the ceremony, alleging denial of property rights.

Venkaiah, who had been living with his daughter in Hyderabad, died on Sunday. His body was brought to his hometown for cremation. Disagreements flared during the arrangements, delaying the funeral until evening despite elders’ intervention, suggesting that the last rites should not be postponed further.
