IIT Kharagpur’s Sports Fest, Shaurya: A Celebration of Valor and Glory

“Veerashwa Kshetra – Where Courage Meets Purpose and Heroes Carve Their Legacy”

The scene is set for Shaurya 2025, IIT Kharagpur’s much awaited annual sports festival, which is set for January 10–12, 2025. This year’s edition promises to be an exciting fusion of athleticism, passion, and the spirit of fearless competition with its stimulating theme, Veerashwa Kshetra. It was founded in 2008 with the goal of advancing sports culture and giving athletes and sportsmen a national stage.

One of India’s top sporting events, Shaurya attracts competitors and spectators from all around the country. This edition invites contestants to push themselves to the limit and become champions in the hallowed arena of sports, drawing inspiration from the ageless values of bravery and tenacity.

Shaurya will include more than 20 sports, including athletics, football, basketball, cricket, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, lawn tennis, squash, and more. Events will range from rigorous track competitions to exciting team games. Amidst boisterous audiences and an energetic atmosphere, competitors will vie for triumph. The highly anticipated cricket tournament, the thrilling football finals, and the athletics and racquet sports showcase events are among the festival’s highlights.

The festival will provide something for everyone with its expert speeches, interactive workshops, and cultural performances in addition to the sporting events. The main draw this year is the Veerashwa Arena, an immersive space that embodies the spirit of warriors and features live audience participation activities and dramatic installations. Some of India’s most prominent athletes, like Charles Borromeo, Joydeep Karmakar, Subrata Bhattacharya, and Deepika Kumari, have participated in earlier events.

More than 50 colleges around the country have participated in previous Shaurya events, and 2025 is predicted to set all previous records with more than 2,000 participants and spectators.

The competition will be even more thrilling and fulfilling this year since competitors will have the opportunity to vie for an amazing prize pool and goodies valued at over ₹3,50,000.
