After being grilled, the accused admitted that they had stolen half a dozen bikes – three in Bachupally and one each in Miyapur, Jagadgirigutta and Kukatpally Housing Board Colony police station limits. Ramesh, a native of Guntur came to Hyderabad in 2018 for eking his livelihood and stayed with a transgender.
He ran a biryani point, mobile sales and service shops till 2023 year. As he incurred loss in the business, he left the business and returned to his native place. In 2014, he again came to Hyderabad and stayed in Suraram and while working as bike taxi captain, Ramesh came in contact with Gundappa and his relative Narasimha.
Due to financial problems, they hatched a plan to commit any theft to earn easy money to clear their debts. The modus operandi of the accused persons was to see an advertisement in OLX app and check if anyone was selling bikes.
After collecting seller’s details, Ramesh and his associates would first watch the movements of the public in the locality and would collect the vehicle from the seller in the name of test drive and escape.
