Speaking at the centenary celebrations of the Tamil Chamber of Commerce in Madurai, Stalin lauded the association that had a membership of 5,500 and 250 affiliated associations, making it the biggest traders’ body in the country. The chamber had been formed in the year in which M Karunanidhi was born and had seen the former Chief Minister gracing the diamond jubilee celebrations, too, he said. Describing the president of the Federation of Traders’ Associations (Vanigar Sagangalin Peramaippu) Vikramaraja as a goodwill ambassador of the DMK, he said he could never reject an invitation by him to address any meeting and that explained his presence in Madurai.
