Case Filed Against Former Minister Kakani for Alleged Remarks on Police
Tirupati: A case has been registered against senior YSR Congress (YSRC) leader and former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy at the Kavali One Town Police Station. The case was filed based on a complaint alleging that Kakani made inappropriate remarks against the police. According to reports, Prasanna Kumar, a Telugu Desam (TD) party leader from Kolladinne of Bogole mandal, lodged a complaint claiming that Kakani made derogatory comments about the police at the Government Hospital in Kavali. Acting on the complaint, the Kavali One Town Police registered a case against the former minister under multiple sections of law. The incident is linked to a recent clash between YSRC and TD supporters in Kolladinne village. The altercation left several activists from both sides injured, with the severely wounded being taken to the Kavali Government Hospital. While undergoing treatment, tensions reportedly flared again, leading to further skirmishes between the two groups. Amidst this, Govardhan Reddy visited the hospital to meet injured YSRCP workers. During his visit, it was alleged that the former minister made remarks against the police. In the complaint, Prasanna Kumar alleged that Kakani threatened the police, stating, "Once we come to power, we will strip you of your uniforms no matter where you are". Following the TD leader's complaint, the police initiated an investigation and registered a case against Kakani. Reacting to the developments, Govardhan Reddy strongly condemned the allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, he stated, "These illegal cases are being filed against me because I am questioning the anti-people policies of the coalition government. It is disgraceful that a false case has been filed against me when I only visited to console YSRC cadres who were attacked by the TD supporters". "Illegal cases and arrests cannot silence our voices. Action will be taken against police officials acting as puppets for the TD. If necessary, we will approach the court. It seems CID officials have also been roped in to file more cases against me. No matter how many cases are filed or arrests made, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s hardcore supporters cannot be stopped. I am ready to face any number of cases and will continue to fight until the YSRC returns to power", he asserted.
