Hyderabad: Anakapalli BJP MP C.M. Ramesh has demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged liquor scam that took place during the YSRC government.
Speaking during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Ramesh claimed that the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam is 10 times bigger than the Delhi liquor scam.
He pointed out that between 2019 and 2024, the liquor distribution system in Andhra Pradesh was altered, with alcohol being sold exclusively through government-run stores. Over five years, the liquor trade generated a turnover exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore, with transactions conducted entirely in cash. Additionally, liquor store staff were recruited on a contract basis.
Ramesh compared this to the Rs 2,500 crore Delhi liquor scam, asserting that the scale of the AP scam is significantly larger and warrants immediate investigation.
