200 Stolen, Lost Mobiles Returned by Cops

Karimnagar: Over 200 lost or stolen mobiles, collectively valued at Rs 25.63 lakh, were returned to their rightful owners by the Ramagundam Police Commissionerate, under the direction of police commissioner M. Srinivas. The initiative was led by CCS inspector Kamalakar. The event was organised in Peddapalli district. The recovery operation was carried out by teams from the CCS, IT Cell, and the Ramagundam Police Commissionerate. During the event, CP M. Srinivas highlighted the effectiveness of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, designed to block stolen phones across networks and aid in their recovery. Since the portal's launch in April 2024, the Ramagundam Commissionerate has registered 5,380 complaints and successfully recovered 1,538 mobile phones. CP M. Srinivas urged the public to report lost phones promptly through the CEIR portal (https://www.ceir.gov.in), which not only aids recovery but also renders stolen phones unusable, reducing theft incidents. The commissioner commended the CCS, IT Cell, and other police officials for their dedication and technical expertise in tracing and recovering the devices. Additional DCP C. Raju, special branch ACP Raghavendra Rao, CCS inspector Kamalakar, and IT cell inspector Chandrasekhar Goud, among others, attended the event.
