Steph Curry is now 36 years old and seems to have retirement on his mind.
He has been speaking about retiring more often, and it’s obvious that he’s closer to the end of his career than the beginning.
Curry has a picture in his mind of how he wants his last few years to go and has been thinking about the late Kobe Bryant regularly.
Talking with Tim Kawakami, Curry made it abundantly clear that he wants his Golden State Warriors to remain competitive as retirement approaches.
“You don’t want to be in a situation the Lakers were in those last three years with Kobe. I know he came off the Achilles injury, but… they were a lottery team, and it was more just how many points can Kobe score down the stretch of his career. I don’t want to be in that scenario,” Curry said, per Legion Hoops.

The last several seasons of Bryant’s career were essentially a farewell tour.
Bryant was still producing decent numbers, even after his devastating Achilles injury, but the Los Angeles Lakers were a complete mess.
The 2015-16 Lakers held a 17-65 record even as Bryant averaged 17.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.
The Warriors aren’t at that point yet with their 28-27 record, but Curry is afraid of his team falling apart as he gets closer to hanging up his jersey.
He wants this last chapter of his career to be filled with postseason success and a legitimate shot at winning one more championship before it’s all over.
When Curry does retire, he wants it to be with a Warriors team that actually competes, not one that just celebrates him and waits for him to step away.
