The eternal LeBron James-Michael Jordan debate has found new life, with Skip Bayless once again taking aim at King James.

As LeBron closes in on Jordan’s record for most 30-point games in NBA history, Bayless isn’t about to let the milestone pass without controversy.

James notched his 561st 30-point game in the Lakers’ thrilling 115-113 victory over the Golden State Warriors, putting him just two games shy of surpassing Jordan’s mark.

But Bayless, true to form, had plenty to say about it.

The outspoken commentator unleashed his thoughts on “The Skip Bayless Show,” targeting what he sees as a misleading achievement.

“I could almost hear the blind witnesses out there, chant in creepy, culty, unison, Goat! Goat! Goat! No. Phony Goat,” Bayless declared.

He didn’t stop there, adding:

“If you want to call him the longevity goat, you can be my guest. But if you’re saying to me, see this is another reason he’s better than Jordan, you should be ashamed of yourself. This is a pathetically desperate attempt to justify the laughably absurd notion that LeBron James is better than Michael Jordan. Period.”

Bayless’s main argument centers on playing time. While acknowledging LeBron’s impressive durability, he points to the 16,500 additional minutes James has played compared to Jordan.

For Bayless, these extra minutes diminish the significance of LeBron’s accomplishments.

This stance isn’t surprising coming from Bayless, who’s long championed Jordan in the GOAT conversation.

Though he recognizes James’s remarkable staying power, Bayless consistently emphasizes that Jordan achieved his records in fewer games and minutes.

Yet LeBron’s continued dominance tells its own story. Even as he approaches 40 and his 22nd NBA season, James remains one of basketball’s elite performers.

His ability to maintain this level of scoring prowess, despite Father Time’s steady march, showcases an unprecedented commitment to physical excellence and longevity in the sport.
