Heat Are Showing Trade Interest In Grizzlies Guard

Most of the trade talk centered around the Miami Heat has to do with star forward Jimmy Butler, who said he prefers to be sent to be a contender by the February trade deadline and reportedly has a list of teams he prefers to go to.

But the Heat are also interested in John Konchar, a guard who currently plays for the Memphis Grizzlies and could help improve their 3-point shooting.

According to Marc Stein, they’re one of a few teams that would like to land him in a deal, per NBACentral.

Konchar, 28, is in his sixth season in the NBA, and he’s making an excellent 39.1 percent of his 3-point shot attempts.

He’s averaging just 12.1 minutes a game and has a career average of just 4.4 points in 17.7 minutes a game, but he could help improve Miami’s depth a bit.

Memphis is a team that is flying high right now with a 20-10 record, which puts them in third place in the Western Conference, and it’s starting to look like they just need some seasoning and maturity to seriously contend for the NBA championship.

They have a glut of guard depth, and thus they could always be open to making a deal with another team involving someone such as Konchar in order to upgrade their forward depth.

The Heat, meanwhile, are 14-13 and look to have hit a plateau after reaching the NBA Finals in 2019 and 2022.

They have a few young studs to build around, but Butler is 35 years of age, and it would greatly help them if they got some draft capital in return for him in order to start retooling.
