Milan have parted ways with their rather obscure sporting director Antonio D’Ottavio, who had played second fiddle to Geoffrey Moncada in the last few years. He was promoted after the ousting of Christian Maldini and Frederic Massara but wasn’t in charge of their transfer market moves.

According to Calciomercato, the official left due to disagreements with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Jovan Kirovski, and the rest of the management. His role had already been deemphasized. He tended primarily to the Futuro squad in the past window. He had been at the club in various roles since 2017, starting as a scout and progressively moving up the ladder.

D’Ottavio butted heads with the rest of the management over a few technical decisions. He would have promoted Ignazio Abate to coach the second team rather than go with Daniele Bonera. The former defender was helming the Primavera team and was let go altogether. He’s currently at Ternana. Moreover, he wanted to confirm Vincenzo Vergine as the head of the youth academy rather than bring in somebody from the outside, which instead happened.

Per TuttoSport (via OneFootball), Milan will promote from within rather than make an addition to their brass. A proper license is required to cover the position. Secretaries Dario Aduasio and Alberto Carraro have it. Former striker Daniele Massaro, who’s been collaborating with the club as a ‘legend,’ took and passed the course last February.

In any case, ownership consultant Ibrahimovic, CEO Giogio Furlani and Moncada will continue to pull the string as far as the first team is concerned. Kirovski, who was poached from Ajax last summer, will keep tending to the Futuro side.
