Napoli recently disclosed their balance sheets, revealing that they had their most lavish window ever after appointing Antonio Conte, Calcio e Finanza relays.

The Azzurri didn’t sell Victor Osimhen in the end, but they were in the black for €63M in the previous campaign. They had cashed in Kim Min-Jae, getting €50M, Elijf Elmas (€24M), and Hirving Lozano (€12.3M). Those ‘plusvalenze’ amounted to over €70M.

Napoli didn’t disclose the sums for last summer’s acquisitions, as they’ll do it next year when closing the 2024/2025 balance session. However, they let it be known that they spent €152M in total while bringing in just €5.5M from the departures.

It’s their richest tally since Aurelio De Laurentiis took over the team in 2005. They had invested a lot in particular in 2017 (€132,7M) after Juventus poached Gonzalo Higuain and in 2020, when they signed Victor Osimhen but also had a few profitable sales.

Napoli will look to part ways with the Galatasaray loanee permanently sooner rather than later but were able to sustain this spending thanks to robust net assets and a healthy liquidity index built in previous years.

Our Take on Napoli

A grand summer was surely part of the pitch to persuade Conte, and a net €146,5M investment is unprecedented, not just for them but for Serie A, also considering that they didn’t use fancy formulas. But they have a big chip that will make up for that eventually, and they’ll try to vend the Nigerian star before June 30th. In the end, the financial aspects lose relevance if they are successful.
