The Charlotte Hornets have been on the cusp of playoff contention for several years, and fans have been pleading with the front office to commit to the changes needed to make them one of the most exciting teams in the East.
There is promise there, but the Hornets might need a bit more to become a true threat.
On Tuesday morning, Evan Sidery reported that the Hornets are opening to trading 29-year-old forward Cody Martin.
Martin is on the books for $8.1 million this year and is under contract with the Hornets through the 2025-26 season.
So far this season, Martin is posting 8.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.

Martin has been with the Hornets since the start of his career and has remained part of the second unit since being a rookie.
While some Hornets fans would love to see Martin remain in Charlotte, others are ready to let him go in favor of better chances in the playoffs.
Martin could be the sort of player who is packaged with others in a deal that brings the Hornets an A-list star.
It’s not entirely clear which direction Charlotte will move in.
Will they try to retain the core group of players they have now, or will they trade away a lot of players?
There is a chance they keep the roster mostly intact, but there is also a strong possibility of them shipping out nearly anyone who doesn’t have the last name Ball or Miller.
Martin might continue to have a very successful career in the NBA, but it sounds like he may not have much more time with the Hornets.
