Milan have laid eyes on Giovanni Fabbian, as they are primed to rebuild their midfield in the summer. At this stage, only two players are sure to be part of their future squad there: Tijjani Reijnders, who just renewed his contract, and Youssouf Fofana, Calciomercato relays.
The Rossoneri will be looking for young talents, preferably Italian ones with modest wages. The Felsinei starlet fits the mold, as he has shown flashes and makes €400k. He has totaled 7 goals and 3 assists in 59 appearances with his current team.
Milan could benefit from their excellent relationship with Bologna in the prospective Fabbian deal. The two sides brokered the Davide Calabria loan in January and the Tommaso Pobega one last year. They’ll sit down to decide the future of the latter in a few months. The Rossoblù have a €12M option to buy.
Inter have a €12M buyback clause on their youth product after selling him for €5M in August of 2023. They haven’t shown interest in activating it at this stage. He has 12 caps with Italy U-21. He’s been useful but not indispensable for Vincenzo Italiano, as he has appeared in 22 matches across all competitions but has started just 7 times.
Our Take on Milan and Fabbian
They’ll have to do a lot of work in the midfield, but it’s very early to name names since they’ll have a different director and a new coach. It’s time for them to move on from 4-2-3-1 and switch to 4-3-3. While promising, he wouldn’t be a great fit as he’s very offensive-minded. In general, they’ll need a lot more than a Bologna deputy to improve.
