The Dallas Mavericks and Nico Harrison shocked the NBA world when they agreed to send out Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in an unprecedented blockbuster move.

There were no hints of a potential Doncic trade, and the initial reports were met with skepticism since fans couldn’t believe the Mavericks would make such a deal.

Harrison sent out Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick.

While Davis is a superstar in his own right, there’s no justification for trading away a 25-year-old superstar nearing his prime in Doncic.

The Dallas fanbase has been in an uproar over the deal for the past week, and Harrison has even received several unsettling messages about the move.

Before the Mavericks’ game against the Houston Rockets, fans gathered outside the American Airlines Center calling for Harrison’s firing, as reported by Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints.

Mavs fans are chanting “fire Nico” #MFFL,” Mistretta reported.

It’s not surprising at all for the fans to still be calling for Harrison to be let go, as this will likely go down as the worst move in their franchise’s history.

Harrison reportedly had concerns about Doncic’s ability to stay in shape and his defensive limitations, though those shouldn’t have been enough to convince him to part with a generational player.

Doncic could go on to win championships with Los Angeles, while Dallas appears all-in on winning right now.

It’s the boldest gamble an executive can make and only time will tell if Harrison’s instincts were right.
