The Luka Doncic trade will go down as one of the most shocking in NBA history.

No one saw it coming, not even the players involved in the transaction.

Luka seemed to be one of the few truly untouchable players in the league.

That’s why LeBron James had to make sure it wasn’t a hoax first.

When asked his initial thoughts on this transaction, the four-time NBA champion admitted that he initially thought it was fake (via Dave McMenamin).

That’s exactly how most people felt.

Even Luka admitted that he had to check if it wasn’t April Fools yet.

It’s uncommon to see a team part ways with a 25-year-old superstar for a much older player.

Also, the fact that they did it without offering him around the league was even more bizarre.

The Mavericks recently reached the NBA Finals, and Doncic looked poised to become the greatest player in franchise history and shatter Dirk Nowitzki’s records.

The Mavs seem to be pretty confident about the move they made and believe they’re now in a better position to compete for a championship than they were last week.

That might or might not be the case.

But when even players around the league question the move, you have to wonder if you’ve made a mistake.
