Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics has been the center of a conversation about NBA nicknames lately.

A lot of basketball stars have fun names used by analysts and fans but Tatum’s haven’t been that clear since he entered the league.

Now, speaking with Daniel Donabedian, Tatum shed some light on what he likes to be called.

“A lot of my friends do call me ‘Taco’… I’ve seen ‘The Anomaly’… ‘Big Deuce’ is cool,” Tatum said, per Legion Hoops.

In recent days, “The Anomaly” has become a popular name for Tatum but this statement makes it clear that there are a few others he is comfortable with.

Why has that nickname stuck with Tatum?

Perhaps it has something to do with his mix of versatility, size, and skill.

He can shoot from just about anywhere, can overpower all kinds of defenders, and has some of the best footwork in the NBA.

It isn’t often that fans find all of those things in one player, which makes Tatum incredibly unique and like a true rarity.

So far this season, Tatum is averaging 27.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 5.8 assists on 45.5 percent from the field.

According to Basketball Reference, “JT” and “Taco Jay” are also prime choices for the 27-year-old star.

No matter what he is called, Tatum deserves a lot of respect for the amount of consistency he has shown this season.

After winning a championship and Olympic gold medal, Tatum continues to post some amazing numbers and his team is second place in the East.

Right now he is being referred to as The Anomaly, but by the end of the season, he could be called a two-time champion.
