The Dallas Mavericks are having a truly horrendous season and no one knows that better than head coach Jason Kidd.

Not only did they lose a generational talent in the Luka Doncic-Los Angeles Lakers trade, but the Mavericks have been hit with a nasty injury bug that has decimated the roster.

Kidd recently spoke about this, via Abby Jones.

“I’ve never seen this…Where you can’t take someone out to rest them because we had no one to put in,” Kidd said, per Legion Hoops.

The injury list is lengthy and might not get much shorter soon.

The Mavericks are currently without Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Daniel Gafford, Jaden Hardy, Kai Jones, Dereck Lively II, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, and PJ Washington.

Some of these players may be back soon and others, like Irving, are out for the rest of the year.

Davis is a big question mark: there are reports of him coming back before the regular season is done but some people are calling on the Mavericks to shut him down for the rest of the season due to the Irving news.

The situation in Dallas was already bad because of losing Doncic but things got even worse with injury after injury.

Kidd’s roster is depleted and he doesn’t have a lot of options.

The remaining players are trying as hard as they can, just like they did during Sunday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

But they came up short and have now lost five in a row.

As the tenth seed in the West, every win is important for the Mavericks but the number of injured players is incredibly worrisome.

Is there any chance of things turning around in 2024-25?
