Not only did the New York Knicks suffer a tough loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, but they also lost star guard Jalen Brunson to an ankle injury late in overtime.

Brunson scored 39 points and had 10 assists and had the Knicks on the verge of what would’ve been an important win.

Set to visit the Los Angeles Clippers, insider Ian Begley provided an update on Brunson’s status for that game.

“Knicks are listing Jalen Brunson (right ankle sprain) and Mitchell Robinson (surgery/injury recovery) as out for tonight vs LAC,” Begley wrote on X.

Ever since Brunson arrived in New York prior to the 2022-23 NBA season, he has lifted the franchise into championship contention after it had been something of a laughing stock.

He has made the All-Star team in each of the past two seasons, and this season, he was a starter in the game, which made New York the only NBA team to have two (Karl-Anthony Towns).

Brunson is averaging 26.3 points and 7.4 assists per game this season for the Knicks, who are third in the Eastern Conference behind the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.

Many fans are concerned about the Knicks’ inability to beat the best teams in basketball, as they are 0-9 this season against the Lakers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Cavaliers and Celtics.

The Knicks have one game remaining against each of the Cavs and Celtics as the regular season winds down.
