D’Angelo Russell is heading back to Brooklyn.
After years away with the Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Los Angeles Lakers, Russell was traded back to the Nets a few days ago.
What will his second tenure in Brooklyn look like?
We’re not sure, but according to Etienne Catalan, we know which number he will wear.
Russell will wear a No. 1 jersey for the Nets, which was last used by Ziaire Williams in 2024.
Nets fans will remember that Russell wore No. 1 during his first run with the Nets so this is only fitting.

During his two seasons in Brooklyn, Russell averaged 19.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.3 assists.
Many people consider that the best period of his career and he worked well with his teammates and seemed happy with his role on the team.
The same can’t be said about his recent time in Los Angeles.
Russell had many ups and downs with the Lakers and was recently pushed to the bench by head coach JJ Redick.
It was becoming increasingly clear that he’d leave the team, although it wasn’t obvious that he’d be going back to a franchise he had played with before.
This move could fire him up and help him perform better.
He may be reminded of why he liked Brooklyn so much and he will surely be given a bigger role in the rotation.
This could end up being a great change for Russell and for the Nets as well.
He will wear the number he had before, but he could look like a very different, more motivated star.
