He’s only in his second NBA season, but Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs has already done some amazing things.
He won Rookie of the Year, is a frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year, and has greatly improved his game and earned many triple-doubles.
People expect big things from Wembanyama, including former NBA star DeMarcus Cousins.
Speaking on “Run It Back,” via Legion Hoops, Cousins gave some of the highest praise possible about Wembanyama.
He said:
“At minimum, [Wemby will] be the greatest defensive player of all time.”
Cousins is setting the bar incredibly high, but can Wembanyama pass it?

Wembanyama’s second-year stat line is eye-popping, and he is averaging 25.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.0 steals, and a league-high 3.9 blocks per game.
As a reminder, he also led the league in blocks last season.
Wembanyama has been called an alien by many people because of his otherworldly ability to score and defend.
He has already shown great leaps and bounds in his game on both ends of the court in just two seasons so there are countless fans who think the sky may be the limit for the young star.
The Spurs are also getting better, partly because of what Wembanyama is capable of.
They are now the eighth seed in the West with an 18-17 record.
They’re not great yet, but they are getting there, and Wembanyama is at the center of it all.
With his immense size and brilliant basketball mind, Wembanyama is proving that he can defend just about anyone.
Will he be the most renowned defensive player of all time?
It’s too soon to tell if Cousins will be right, but no one would be surprised if Wembanyama’s name goes down in NBA history.
