It’s still too early to tell, but it seems like the 2024 NBA Draft class will go down as one of the weakest of all time.
That was always the projection, and other than some big games from Zaccharie Risacher or Jared McCain, that sentiment hasn’t changed at all.
While a project, Donovan Clingan looks like a potential dominant rim protector.
On the other hand, Alexandre Sarr has left a lot to be desired.
However, the Los Angeles Lakers seem to have struck gold with their pick.
Dalton Knecht slipped to No. 17, and he’s now averaging 24.3 points as a starter and lighting defenses up from beyond the arc.
When asked why he slipped so much, ESPN insider Brian Windhorst had an easy answer: Decision-makers weren’t high on this draft class.

Also, as absurd as it might sound, they didn’t want to get him because he was 23 years old already, and the NBA Draft is all about the upside.
Windhorst argued that some of the guys taken in the top ten might be, according to people from the league, third or fourth-scoring options three or four years down the road.
They didn’t even like their chances of finding a rotational piece in this weak draft class.
Only time will tell, but it seems like they got it right for the most part.
Even so, if they had another chance to do things, the rookie out of Tennessee wouldn’t fall that far, that’s for sure.
