What makes the Boston Celtics so great?
That’s a question with many answers, but longtime Celtics fan Bill Simmons recently dug into some of the factors that make them special.
Writing on X, Simmons noted that Boston is taking 90.5 shots per game, and 50.7 percent of those shots are three.
They are making 37.6 percent of those three-pointers, securing 19.1 of them per game.
On top of that, Simmons highlighted the fact that the 16-4 Celtics have had leads in all four losses with under four minutes left.
So, even when they are losing, they are keeping it close.
Through 20 games the Celtics are taking 90.5 shots per game.
50.7 of those shots per game are threes / 19.1 makes (37.6%).
They’re 16-4 and had leads in all 4 losses with under 4 mins left.

The Celtics are the second-best team in the East, slightly behind the 18-3 Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cavs might be getting more headlines and attention because of their incredible start to the season but the Celtics are still performing like champions and have a very good chance of returning to the Finals in a few months.
Their offense has always been vigorous under head coach Joe Mazzulla, but it looks even more confident and strong this season.
A large part of that is Jayson Tatum, who is playing like an MVP and erasing most of the doubts that certain fans had last season and in the Olympics.
However, their defense is also strong, and that is what makes them such a well-rounded beast that has defeated some of the best teams in the NBA.
The Celtics are dangerous because they can shoot from all over the court, with multiple players finding buckets from the paint, the perimeter, the three-point line, and beyond.
At times, their offense is nearly impossible to slow down, and these numbers from Simmons prove that.
